History

Heartwood’s origins go back to 1988 with the establishment of the financial services division of Cripps Harries Hall LLP (CHH), one of the South East of England's leading firms of solicitors, based in Tunbridge Wells. In December 2001 Cripps Portfolio was demerged from the legal practice into a separate entity. The business grew further in January 2005, with the acquisition of the investment management business of Lewes based solicitors, Adams & Remers, adding client funds totalling approximately £50 million. 

Cripps Portfolio was rebranded as Heartwood Wealth Management Limited on 16 January 2006 following the buy out of certain CHH partners' interests in Cripps Portfolio by management and staff.  It is now owned by Heartwood Wealth Group Limited, which was formed to effect the management buyout. 

Heartwood’s London presence has been expanding since its establishment in 1996, a direct reflection of our growing customer base in the capital. Our London based clientele now represent a significant proportion of our assets under management.

Investment management approach

Heartwood’s portfolio management approach is focused on the analysis and selection of third party asset managers. Our robust investment process is delivered on a discretionary basis, either through individual portfolios or through our range of investment funds.

In 2004 we launched our first investment fund, the CF Heartwood Balanced Growth Unit Trust, followed by the CF Heartwood Pedigree Equity fund in November 2005, the CF Heartwood Pedigree Equity Income fund in April 2007 and CF Heartwood Pedigree Absolute Return fund in August 2007.

These funds ‘wrap’ our investment process, either in part or in full, and have expanded the ability to deliver cost and tax efficient investment solutions to our clients.

Heartwood has been consistently profitable throughout its history. We employ over 80 staff and, as at 31 March 2008, had over £1bn under management and administration.
